Podcast Guru 2.3.0

This release brings critical stability fixes, real-time chapter support, and seamless cross-device sync for your listening preferences.

🐛 Bug Fixes

Playback Crash Resolved

Fixed a crash that could occur when resuming your last played episode or tapping Play on an episode with a broken or missing audio file link.

The app now verifies the audio file before starting playback. If an episode’s file is invalid, playback won’t start instead of crashing. Normal episodes play as before.

RSS Import Fixed

Fixed a regression that blocked manual RSS feed imports. Pasting a show’s RSS URL into the Import dialog now works again—you’ll be prompted to sign in if required, then the app will begin adding the podcast to your library.

✨ Playback & UI Improvements

Real-Time Chapter Loading

Chapters now load in real time for MP3 episodes that include them. As soon as you press play, the Now Playing screen fills in the chapter list with titles, links, and any chapter images.

Jump to sections or open related links right away—no more waiting for chapters to appear.

We read chapter info directly from the audio file and cache the artwork, reducing delays and repeated reloads.

Clearer Subtitles Toggle

In the fullscreen video player and the Now Playing options menu, the icon now shows the current state—CC when subtitles are ON and slashed CC when they’re OFF. This removes the previous ambiguity without changing your settings.

☁️ Cloud Sync & Filters

Cross-Device Filter Sync

Your “Hide completed episodes” setting now syncs across devices when you’re signed in with Cloud Sync—covering Latest, Popular, Offline, each podcast, and each playlist.

No need to re-toggle filters after a reinstall or device switch.

On first launch after updating, your current choices are copied to the cloud so your other phones and tablets match automatically. When you delete a playlist, its hide-completed preference is also removed from the cloud.

Real-Time Filter Updates

Episode lists now update in real time when your “Hide completed” preference changes via cloud sync. If you change this setting on another device, the Latest, Popular, individual podcast pages, and your playlists will immediately refresh—no manual refresh or restart required.

Only the screen you’re viewing reloads, and only when the setting actually changed, so you may see a quick refresh but no extra delays.
